Bio:

ROXANNA “ROXY” McCALL
· Character Name(s): Roxanna Leticia McCall

· Nicknames/Aliases: Roxy, Rox, B-Rox

· Gender: Female

· Race: Human

· Character Age: 32

· Date of Birth: June 6th

· Birth Location: Anaheim, California

· Physical Description:
- Height: 5’5”
- Hair: A constantly changing accessory for Roxy, she currently wears it long, the ends falling just passed her shoulders in loose natural curls. The color, while returned to her natural black, is highlighted throughout with bright strands of purple.
- Eyes: Dark chocolate brown
- Style: Crazy, colorful, vibrant, eclectic – the crazier, the better when it comes to Rox.
- Build: Curvy, both naturally and enhanced. Her frame is one of a woman whose means of exercise have nothing to do with a gym. Rox definitely isn’t one to fret over a pound or two, that infuriating woman who doesn’t worry about cardio or calorie counting but still looks amazing.

· Distinguishing marks:
- Scars: One small one over her left cheekbone, just below her eye and another one about 4-5 inches in length on her stomach where her appendix was removed
- Tattoos: Roxy is nearly covered – she has one complete sleeve on her right arm, is collecting one her left, her right side has a complete rib piece from armpit to hip, there is butterfly between her breasts and several scattered pieces on both her legs and her back.
- Piercings: Ears, belly button, nipples, medusa, dimples, tongue
- Body Mods: Breast implants, split tongue, gauged earlobes

If she wants to dance and drink all night
Well there’s nothing that can stop her
She’s going until the house lights come up

· Personality: Roxy is a ball of energy; she’s constantly on the go, rarely content to just sit still and hang out. An outgoing girl who loves a night of drinking and dancing with friends, she is often the life of the party: Roxy is a night owl who loves checking out the downtown scene in Seattle. She’s quick to make friends, her vibrant personality one that tends to draw people in. Adventurous, funny and loud in more ways than one, she definitely leaves an impression on those that meet her.

She is surprisingly warm hearted, a truly emotional creature though she kinds it behind that ‘tough chick’ demeanor. Her circle of friends is one that is close-knit, more family than acquaintance, and she isn’t quick to let someone knew breach that trust. Roxy tends to keep interactions light, coming off usually as a bubbly good time girl, though she has a darker side as well. A former addict, she lives every day in the swing of a spectrum that reaches from recovery to relapse. It’s a time in her life that she’s open about, a dark chapter that nearly ruined her business and came close to killing her.

Roxy’s passion now is her art, her business, her friends. She’s fiercely loyal to all three. At times, she has a quick temper than can get her into trouble – more than once, a smart ass remark has lead to a bar fight. She has a cheeky sense of humor, never one to bite her tongue when the opportunity for a prime comeback presents itself. Overall, her personality is as bright and varied as her appearance.

· Personal Background: Born in Orange County, California, Roxy’s life was anything but ideal. Her father was in prison serving a life sentence for murdering a store clerk during a gas station robbery and her mother was a drug addict who claimed her daughter was the light of her life but was never able to actually get it together enough to parent. Somehow her mother managed to keep a roof over their head, though utilities were often shut off and there was rarely food in the house. How the pair managed to fly under DCS’ radar has always been a mystery to Rox, who dropped out of high school after the first semester of her freshman year. Instead of wasting her time sitting in class, she left home with a few friends and schlepped to L.A. with dreams of success.

The group lived on the streets for awhile, panhandling and pick-pocketing to make money, eventually moving into a crappy apartment in a bad part of town. They managed to keep themselves fed and alive in spite of the rabid drug use amongst them and the shady neighbors the group seemed to get involved in. When she was eighteen, Roxy took a job as a shop hand at a tattoo parlor. At first it was just a paying gig, something to cover the rent that seemed like a pretty ok way to spend the day. It wasn’t a lame retail job and the discount she got kick-started her personal tattoo collection.

Tattoos weren’t the only way the shop made money. Its owner, a guy named Tilt, was making more cash selling heroin out of the back room - a secret revealed to Rox only after paid her dues, working in the shop for over a year. Always the curious cat up for an adventure, she snagged a bit of the stuff for her own personal use. It was a decision that shaped the next five years of her life, it was a choice that made her an addict. Off and on for those years, she battled against the need to use. She stole it from Tilt’s stash, bought it on the streets, did almost whatever she could to keep the withdrawal symptoms at bay. She wasn’t alone in her addiction – Jensen, a roommate and friend from Anaheim, was hooked as well. The two often used together in the bedroom they shared in the group’s apartment, riding out theirs highs together, comforting one another through the lows.

Typically, the two girls would share whatever they managed to come across, but one night Rox returned home to find her roommate unconscious in their shared bedroom – she’d decided to use the entirety of what she’d gotten on her own and had OD’d waiting for Roxy to come home. The group rushed her to the hospital, hoping that maybe Jensen had been found in time for the doctors to do something, anything for her. But it was too late. Her death hit Roxy hard enough to make her want to kick the habit. She quit working for Tilt, took the money she’d managed to save and checked into a rehab just outside L.A. The desire was there to quit, the desperate need to just stop before she ended up like Jensen. It took time and she wasn’t without a relapse or two, but eventually she was clean. For awhile, Roxy lived outside L.A., not ready to return to the city’s fast paced atmosphere or tempting drug culture.

At thirty, she was ready to head back. Roxy had worked as a tattoo artist in the years that followed her stint in rehab - a passion she discovered only in her sobriety. A natural talent for both drawing and tattooing had lain dormant for years, hidden by both drug addiction and lack of opportunity. The art form allowed her to express herself in a way that only her addiction had previously and so she saved every penny she could, applied for every loan out there, called in every favor, until she had enough cash to open her own studio. She called it ‘Crimson Needle Tattoos,’ both because of the pain of the art and as a reminder of what her addiction could cost her should she let it win again. At first, things were slow going: the shop struggled, Roxy lived in the back room, it looked as though she might fail. But slowly business picked up – Crimson earned a reputation as a clean studio with excellent artists, a atmosphere conducive to quality work. Business continues to pick up, a fact that Roxy has no qualms about admitting she enjoys. Her business is a success, she’s still clean and sober, her apartment isn’t a hole for the first time in her life and, most importantly, she is happy. It seems, for once, that the pieces of her life have fallen into place.

No mother ever dreams that her daughters going to grow up to be a junkie
No mother ever dreams that her daughters going to grow up to sleep alone
If she had to live it all over again you know
She wouldn’t change anything for the world
